October Wrap Up

So I read a total of 8 books this month. The books at the top are from my personal TBR and I either own or I borrowed from the library. The books at the bottom are all ARCs or review copies sent to me from publishers.

Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon 5/5 stars
Salem’s Lot by Stephen King 4/5 stars (Re-read)
Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas 4/5 stars

The Water Cure by Sophie Mackintosh 4/5 stars
10 Minutes in the Word: Proverbs by Thomas Nelson 5/5 stars
Lost Soul, Be at Peace by Maggie Thrash 3/5 stars
Fergus and Zeke at the Science Fair by Kate Messner 4/5 stars
Jesus Calling: The Story of Christmas by Sarah Young 4/5 stars

I actually read quite a few great books this month. I finally finished Drums of Autumn, which of course was a 5/5 for me. I love this series, but it does take me longer to read these books compared with others. Gabaldon writes with a lot of detail, which I very much enjoy, it just slows down my reading speed. Also, I swear, whether you are reading the hardcover or the paperback, there are more words per page than any other book I have ever read. They are huge! I’m going to take a break from the series and watch Season 4 of the show and pick up with The Fiery Cross, the 5th book, sometime in the beginning of 2019. I also finally read Tower of Dawn, which I enjoyed much more than I imagined I would. And for anyone who is wondering if they need to read it before reading Kingdom of Ash, I would definitely recommend it or you might be slightly confused when reading KOA. The Water Cure was a very interesting book and turned out not to be exactly what I expected, but I ended up enjoying it a lot. If you are a fan of dystopian, I recommend adding this one to your TBR for 2019.

As for my TBR for November, I am currently in the middle of Kingdom of Ash and am taking my time with it. After finishing that one, I am planning on catching up on the few ARCs I have so everything is caught up. After that, I’m not sure. I have so many unread books I often don’t know where to start. I think I will probably read one of the YA fantasy series I have been being to get to, since that is the genre I have currently been reading a lot. But I also have quite a few thrillers from Book of the Month that I would also like to get to. What are your reading plans for this month? Anyone else excited for season 4 of Outlander?
